Anne Clark, the style icon of electronic music and the european New-Wave movement, makes a new and unexpected turn with her latest release for Stockfisch Records. The internationally- renowned artist releases a pure acoustic album with spoken poems. She speaks delicate, fragile and very personal texts and surrounds these with minimalistic sounds. Her poetry tells of the sensual beauty in nature, the unfathomable in the arts and the courage to let go. The Irish/ Briton recites her poetry with utmost care, allowing the magic of her voice and each single word to unfold and have their intended effect. The music reinforces the intervening power of this lyric: her band member violinist Justin Ciuche and harpist Ulla van Daelen play very reduced sounds in live sessions whose painterly-beautiful tones make the poems of the spoken- word artist shine. In addition to her own texts, Anne Clark also recites poems by William Butler Yeats and Mary Coleridge. The booklet is very personal: the artist shows her love of nature and illustrates her texts with touching and detailed photographs of plants and landscapes. In the borderland between poetry and music, in the midst of brilliant sounds from the Stockfisch studio, Anne Clark transforms her lyrical art into the powerhouse of a beauty thought to be long lost.

In a place and time where so many of us have so little control over circumstances and events, I feel privileged to have been given this opportunity to create and explore ideas and themes around language and music that evolved and developed spontaneously in the magnificent environment of Stockfisch Records studio.
|
My co-writer and band member, violinist Justin Ciuche, approached me with the idea of randomly going into the studio along with harpist and composer Ulla van Daelen and recording a totally ‘live’ session - with no plan, no theme and no structure other than a few scribbled notes of ideas for texts.
|
Recorded and overseen by legendary producer, Günter Pauler, the result is the project here before you, BORDERLAND - FOUND MUSIC FOR A LOST WORLD.

Die Stilikone der elektronischen Musik und europäischen New-Wave-Bewegung Anne Clark geht bei Stockfisch Records ganz neue, unerwartete Wege: Die international erfolgreiche Sängerin veröffentlicht ein rein akustisches Album mit gesprochen Gedichten. Die „Spoken Word“-Künstlerin spricht zarte, zerbrechliche und sehr persönliche Texte. Diese umrahmt sie mit minimalistischer Musik. Ihre Poesie erzählt von der sinnlichen Schönheit in der Natur, dem Unergründliche in der Kunst und vom Mut, im Leben loslassen zu können. Die Britin spricht ihre Poesie voller Bedacht, lässt die Magie ihrer Stimme und jedes Wort wirken und sich entfalten. Die Musik verstärkt das Ergreifende dieser Lyrik: Ihr Band-Mitglied Justin Ciuche an der Violine spielte zusammen mit der Harfenistin Ulla van Daelen in Live-Sessions ganz reduzierte Klänge ein. Diese malerisch-schönen Vertonungen lassen die Gedichte der Sprachkünstlerin strahlen. Neben eigenen Texten rezitiert sie Gedichte von William Butler Yeats und Mary Coleridge. Ganz privat ist das Booklet des Albums: Die Sängerin offenbart ihre Liebe zur Natur und illustriert ihre Texte mit selbst erstellten berührenden und detailreichen Fotos von Pflanzen und Landschaften. Im Grenzland zwischen Poesie und Musik inmitten des brillanten Sounds aus dem Stockfisch- Studio verwandelt Anne Clarks ihre lyrische Kunst zu einem energetischen Kraftzentrum einer schon verloren geglaubten Schönheit.

An einem Ort und in einer Zeit, in der so viele von uns so wenig Kontrolle über die Umstände und Ereignisse haben, fühle ich mich privilegiert, dass mir die Möglichkeit gegeben wurde, Ideen und Themen rund um Sprache und Musik zu entwickeln und zu erforschen, die sich in der großartigen Umgebung des Stockfisch Records Studios spontan entwickelt haben.

Mein Co-Autor und Bandmitglied, der Geiger Justin Ciuche, trat mit der Idee an mich heran, zusammen mit der Harfenistin Ulla van Daelen ins Studio zu gehen und eine komplette "Live"- Session aufzunehmen - ohne Plan und ohne vorherige Absprachen, außer ein paar Notizen mit Ideen für meine Texte.
